Virtues of Bamboo?

Can anyone tell me about bamboo yarns? Are they warm? Durable? Washable? Do they fade in sunlight? I'm sure if Chris dyed these yarns, they are beautiful and soft, but having never used bamboo or soy or seasilk, my inquiring mind want to know "Just how practical are these new plant based fibers "?

PS I'm putting the lace border on the bottom of my shawl this weekend!

Hi Jennifer! I have never used Chris's bamboo (and you are probably right - I bet it is fabulous) but I have knitted a lacy scarf with bamboo and liked it. I have an extra skein of it hanging around in my stash. I think it is South West Trading (sorry, I'm not crutching in there right now to see) I can mail it to you if you'd like to see how it feels on the needles. Drop me an email.

I made a sleeveless shell from 100% Bamboo yarn and I love it! I wash it on the hand wash cycle of my machine and lay it out to dry and it always looks great and has worn well. The link below has a little snippit of a picture.
