Faroese Top Down Shawl in progress

Thanks to a co-worker, I now have a picture to share! I'm making this shawl using 4th of July and a pattern from Stahman's Shawls and Scarves. This is one skein's worth and comes to my elbow (OK, I'm short!) The pattern seemed very complicated, but after taking the plunge and following the directions step by step it all worked out perfectly. I have about 4 more inches to knit and then I'll add a lace border.

Chris - the pattern is Gracie. Very simple, yet perfect for this 4th of July yarn. The colors are great but I made one mistake. I bought only one skein, thinking I'd make socks. But the yarn was much too nice for socks so I started the shawl thinking one skein would be enough, but then I wanted the shawl longer, so I ordered a second skein... I think you must know what happened because there are a million places on the web site to "buy enough yarn for your project"... and yes the colors are slightly different and the shawl was 3/4 of the way done so I just am finishing it in it's imperfect state. I'm afraid I'll just have to keep it instead of giving it to my sister - darn :~) I'll show the finished shawl to her at Easter and let her choose her own yarn - I'll be sure to order enough yarn for the whole project!
